Excuse the Interruption

Just wanted to share these with those of you who haven't seen him yet:
Charles (Charlie) William Busath

I hear the musical number on Sunday went extremely well. I was thinking about you all! I wish I could have been there.

Thank You!

I just wanted to commandeer the blog to thank everyone for their generosity at my surprise baby shower on Tuesday night. I feel so blessed to know such kind and thoughtful people. This little baby doesn't even know how spoiled he is!

Tuesday!

Tuesday is going to be the day you remember for the rest of your life.
Why?
Because it will be the day that you fall in love with fabric and you will thank your leaders for giving you this opportunity.

Well, maybe not but we are going to have a good time!

Tuesday we are meeting at the church for opening exercises then headed to JoAnn's with our skirt pattern to see what type of fabric we need and can use to make our skirts in November!

Also, don't forget to read the General Conference talk that Sis. Anderson gave you and to do Knowledge value experience number 1 and tell her about it and get a special treat! WHoop! If you have already completed that experience you are already half way there to your special treat! Way to be!

Can't wait to see you there on Tuesday and hope you have a great Monday!

Oh, I wanted to share some scriptures that we (laurels) didn't get to cover in class.
Proverbs 3:5–6
Alma 37:35, 37
Moroni 7:16–17
Doctrine and Covenants 18:18
These scriptures give counsel for overcoming Satan’s influences and living according to true principles!

Love you ladies you are truly amazing Daughters of God and we are so blessed to have you to work with!

Update

Value of the (Almost Over) Month - Individual Worth
Elder Russel M. Nelson shared this thought in General Conference, October 1989
[A young woman's] self-esteem cannot be based on physical features, possession or lack of a particular talent, or comparative quantities of anything. Her self-esteem is earned by individual righteousness and a close relationship with God. Her outward glow is generated by goodness within. And her patience is much more apparent than any imperfection.
If you haven't already, get out your personal progress books and learn about how important you are to your Heavenly Father!

This Week:
Tuesday, September 27th: Combined YM/YW Movie Night - 6:30 - "Baptists at our Barbecue"

Thursday, September 29th: Baptisms for the dead - meet at the church at 6:00 am
*If you decide to go and were not counted on Sunday, please talk to Sis. Anderson by 6:00 pm
Wednesday night

Saturday, October 1st - Sunday, October 2nd - General Conference
- Tune in and be spiritually fed by the prophets of the Lord.

Have a great week! Please let us know if you need anything - no matter how big or small.

Sunrise Personal Progress Devotional

This was our view when we first arrived in the foothills overlooking the city on Tuesday morning.  Autumn was in the air that morning - the air was brisk!
The sun shining on all of your faces!  After some moving devotionals from the leaders on individual worth, divine nature, integrity and virtue, Sister Anderson presented a recommitment incentive for personal progress:  for each month between August and June, we commit to completing *2* personal progress experiences.  For those of you who have received your YW award or are really close, you will need to work on your honor bee award.

As evidence of our recommitment, we all signed our Banner and agreed to complete 2 experiences per month.  This winter, for those who have made it roughly halfway in the challenge, we will have a sleepover/party.  For those who endure to the end, we will take an overnight trip to Utah in June and see the Manti Pageant!  This will be amazing, but only those who make it through the entire challenge will get to go. Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is any way that we can help you along in this recommitment!

Paige on the news!

If you missed it, Paige was interviewed and featured on the 10:00 news on channel 6 on Tuesday night. ...I'm just a little disappointed she didn't mention anything about her awesome Young Women's leaders or friends... but such is the life of a celebrity. ;o)

***MUSIC ASSIGNMENTS***

The music assignments have been updated and are currently visible in the sidebar through September. If you have any questions, please ask me.

Please remember that accompanying our opening hymn is not to show off your piano skills, but to give you an opportunity to share and develop your talents. (Same with conducting the hymns.) Doing so also completes
Personal Progress value number 2 or number 6 for Knowledge. Please be mindful of this responsibility - we are relying on you to help make our Opening Exercises run smoothly. If you will not be at church when you are assigned to play, please let me know.

If you need any help learning your hymn, please ask me!

Disc Golfing

Tuesday night the Mia Maids/Beehives went to McCowin Park to play some disc golf with Brother Busath. Things started out a little rough, but everyone improved significantly and no discs were lost in the trees! And besides a few minor Frisbee hit-and-runs, nobody was hurt either - so it was a success!

Immediately post-throw:

Fourth of July

If you missed the Idaho Falls 4th of July parade - here are the highlights! See if you can spot Mykette (flute) in the first picture, and Chelsa (sax) in the second picture - they marched with the Hillcrest Band.

Amanda fulfilling her Student Council responsibilities and lookin' HOT!
Great job girls!

Kaia! Come home!!

For those of you who haven't heard, Kaia has decided to stay in Arizona until the end of the month to train. I say we start a petition to get her to come home!

Kaia - if you're reading this - we miss you! Get lots of good training in! See you in a few weeks!

(Stay tuned for posts/pictures from the 4th of July Parade, Mia Maids/Beehives disc golfing and night swimming!)

Eternal Perspective

I saw this and it reminded me of our lesson on the eternal perspective this last week.

“God bless you to realize where you came from and the great privileges that are yours. If the veil were rolled back and you could just see one glimpse of God’s great eternal plan concerning you and who you are, it would not be hard for you to love Him, keep His commandments, and live to be worthy of every blessing that He has had for you since before the foundations of the world were laid”
Elder LeGrand Richards

Remember Tuesday at 6:00! CPR Certification, even if you are not going to camp this is information you will not regret having.
You will never know when you could need to use it!

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I thought maybe you, like me, could use a little pick-me-up to get you through the rest of the week.

And, President Hinckley will always hold a large part of my heart. This is what he told us in the April 2001 Young Women's Broadcast. I was 13.

For you, my dear friends, the sky is the limit. You can be excellent in every way. You can be first class. There is no need for you to be a scrub. Respect yourself. Do not feel sorry for yourself. Do not dwell on unkind things others may say about you. Particularly, pay no attention to what some boy might say to demean you. He is no better than you. In fact, he has already belittled himself by his actions. Polish and refine whatever talents the Lord has given you. Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart. Love life and look for its opportunities, and forever and always be loyal to the Church.

Never forget that you came to earth as a child of the divine Father, with something of divinity in your very makeup. The Lord did not send you here to fail. He did not give you life to waste it. He bestowed upon you the gift of mortality that you might gain experience—positive, wonderful, purposeful experience—that will lead to life eternal. He has given you this glorious Church, His Church, to guide you and direct you, to give you opportunity for growth and experience, to teach you and lead you and encourage you, to bless you with eternal marriage, to seal upon you a covenant between you and Him that will make of you His chosen daughter, one upon whom He may look with love and with a desire to help. May God bless you richly and abundantly, my dear young friends, His wonderful daughters.

Have an awesome day!

Young Women Broadcast Update

Last night's New Beginnings was fantastic!  You all know that I cry at the drop of a hat, but the video was so moving and I could feel each of your testimonies radiating out from you!  Thanks for all your hard work and willingness to do what is asked of you!

Just a reminder that you girls and your mothers should plan on attending the broadcast at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Stake Center.  If there is anyone who does not have a ride to the Stake Center, please let one of us know so that we can make sure and get you there.  Otherwise, we will not plan on meeting at the church beforehand.

Also, the Stake YW's presidency is asking each ward to sing their New Beginnings song during refreshments.  Since ours is a little complicated, we will join in the other two or three wards who are singing "We Believe".

Don't forget baptisms in the morning!  Have a great day!

Sunday, March 20, 2011

(Also - just a few minutes ago I realized there was no school tomorrow, and I have to admit, I did a little happy dance on the spot. Be productive on your day off! Let us know if you need anything.)

Sister Beck In Rexburg

This is a few weeks old, but I just wanted to post these images from Saturday, February 26th when we went to see and hear President Julie B. Beck up at BYU-Idaho. Such a special opportunity to be able to hear from her in such a "small" venue. The BYU-Idaho Center is beautiful and we are lucky to have such a facility to have opportunities like this!

Thanks girls for going with us!
